My name is Shane,
I have tried my whole life to be as
healthy as I can after being picked on so much as a kid in school, kids that I went to school with calling me any name that you could think of. At first, it didn’t bother me that much but as time went on, it effected my self-esteem as well. I wasn’t tall at all, I was only 5′ 7″ but weighed 200lbs.
With that said, here is a little bit about me.
I have studied health and exercise from the time I was 16 years old, proper foods to eat to the correct exercises to do. Let’s just say at the age of 18 years old I was in very good shape and the names all changed from negative to positive but at that young age it really didn’t take too much effort to get from 200lbs to 165lbs.
Later in my life with a wife and had children and with that type of responsibility it’s just like they say “life happens”, who has time to eat how you should and work out as much as they should not mention the industry that I worked in was well let’ s just say not so healthy. I quickly went from a healthy slender young man who was 5′ 7″ 165lbs to an overweight 210lbs close to 30 years old man.
My success story:
I obviously could not just cut out the McDonalds and soda to get my weight down, the weight just wouldn’t come off the way I thought it should. I may have gone from 210lbs to 200lbs just by cutting out the fast food while working out a little but I would always get stay tired and run down. I had to change my way of thinking from being a 16-year-old boy to being a 30-year-old man. I read up on what other people did and I did a lot of trial and error on my own, learning a lot but I wasn’t getting any younger so I came up with a workout plan just using my own body weight and eating wisely. By this time I was 33 years old and within a years time I became back to my 16-year self, I do not stay tired, I actually have more energy.
Now I am 36 years old and with all that I have learned I thought I could help other people that may be going through situations similar to mine but I didn’t have the option to change careers so I decided to start a website to reach out to those in need. After all, if we don’t help each by sharing what we have learned ourselves then we really don’t gain a thing.
I started this website to be here to help in every single way that it can, not just by recommendations but if you have any questions or need further help like what to understand, or maybe just what is best for you to be healthy and fit. This is the place for you! This website is unlike any other health and fitness website that are out on the internet today. I am here to help out in any possible way that I can as that is my goal by creating this website.
I have found in life that it is best to operate on the 33% rule which means 33% of my time with people far more advanced than myself to learn, 33% of my time with my peers to grow with them, and 33% of my time helping others as much as I can.
If you like the articles and helpful information then please help spread a good positive word about IncreaseStrengths.com so that you can help me grow this website to better aid everyone that I can.
I hope that I can add value to your journey.
Thanks,
Shane
Hi Shane,
Thanks for sharing your story here. I have battled weight gain all of my life as well, so I can relate to the ups and downs you speak of. And I completely agree that it is not as easy to lose weight now as a middle-aged person. When I try the same tactics that lost me a lot of weight in the past, they don’t work anymore. I am interested in seeing what your successful strategies are.
Sarah,
Great to hear from you and thank you for the kind words. I would love to help out in any way that I can so please feel free to let me know.
Hope ll is going well,
Shane
