Core training
Core training for me is a good foundation to maintaining a good weight and an all around self respect for myself.
Like they say “A little confidence never hurt anyone”.
My go to core exercises
I have my morning exercise that I highlighted in an earlier post on this website which are stretching for 5 minutes then doing several one minute to two minute intervals of different style plank positions. This is a great way to strengthen your core, maintain your core, or even define hard to structure areas such as the 6 pack or 8 pack that some may think is just a movie trick.
Building a core is the key base for not getting hurt doing any physical activity which for me that is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In Brazilian jiu-jitsu it’s better to be strong but at the same time to be flexible so heavy weight training for me is limited at this point in my life although I have had my fair share of heavy lifting. This is what mainly drove me to strength training, me body’s core strength could not maintain the type training that I used to do.
In the middle of my day, generally after work and before dinner, I do anywhere from 30 to 50 standard pull ups. I begin with hanging on the pull up bar for roughly 30 seconds to get loose and see how my body is feeling that day. I do 3 to 5 sets of 10 pull ups afterwards stretching again for about one minute this time. I do this about 3 days out of the week.
I do standard push ups for the other 3 days of the week to rotate between front to back exercises. I say other 3 days because I generally take one day off to let my body fully rest. As far as the push up routine, I normally try to do 3 to 5 sets of 12 push ups to help strengthen my core. Again, stretching is very important.
I do not have a set day to do a either of these, it really just depends on how my week is going but one thing is for sure, I do not miss a routine. Getting off of a workout routine no matter the excuse will always lead to more and more excuses not to do them.
There is a saying from Eric Thomas, it goes “If you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe then you will become successful.”
I heard that statement watching a youtube video when I was going through a rough time in my life and it struck something inside of me.
Understanding good digestion is a great way to add to these tips to loss weight.
I hope this helps aid you in achieving your goals and if you would like to leave a comment or suggestion please feel free to do so.
I will answer all post and feedback as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Shane
