Jump start your metabolism and lose weight.
- Stretching
It’s like hitting the reset button on your body if you stretch the first thing in the morning, it improves posture, promotes blood flow, and helps relieve tension in any tight muscles.
- Work out fast
Meaning in the morning get started before your brain has time to think about it, just start exercising. At most limit the time that you exercise in the morning to 30 minutes but not too short, this is because you will be active all day and you do not want to get burnt out a few days into the routine. Studies also show that people are more likely to follow through with a shorter workout such as 15 to 30 minutes and stick with them. Morning workouts will definitely help with weight loss and with gaining lean muscle if you stick with it.
- Form a habit
If you want to workout before you go to work but you really aren’t motivated in the morning or when you first get up then try this trick out, set a side a 4 week period of time and try getting up 15 to 30 minutes earlier than you normally would and do any physical activity. Preferably stretching and a small workout but start out with whatever you can just to build a routine of getting up earlier. Keep in mind, I am not saying get up and change into workout clothes, just get up and start stretching then an exercise such as a plank or jumping jacks…just to give a few examples.
- Train your brain
Preparing your central nervous system for activity is a key component because your central nervous system tells your muscles when to contract. Stretching again is one way to get the blood flowing and aiding in this process. Music helps me out but if you can’t make any noise then using earbuds or head phones helps out. You can also refer to the Mental Focus Vitamins page for other ideas.
- Eliminate distractions if any
Rushed times can cause rush decisions not to do anything at all, temptations can make it hard to keep any routine especially exercise.
- Prep for an early morning workout
If needed then drink a cup of coffee or an energy drink to get your motivation going if needed or the night before eat a slow digesting carb such as a broccoli, beans, or lentils. The food that you eat before you go to bed is very important to how you will feel in the next morning and really throughout the day. Remember to not eat heavy 2 to 3 hours before you go to bed for the night.
- The correct amount of sleep
Turn off the TV or any electronic device, yes the tablet and phone too at least 30 minutes before you go to bed to help your brain get into a resting state, not an active such as watching TV, playing with your tablet or phone. This helps your body produce melatonin which is a hormone that makes you feel sleepy. Another good tip is to move the alarm clock to the other side of the room to motivate you to get up.
- Embrace the light
It’s a good idea to turn on the lights if its dark to stop your body from producing melatonin and starts the process of you waking up. What I do to not disturb my wife and kids is to go into the bathroom and turn on the lights. I first shave then I stretch and then finally get to whatever exercise I have decided to do to fit my day or to wake my body up.
This is just a few tips to help boost your bodies ability to speed up your metabolism and always remember to stay off of the snooze button, it is a proven fact that if you get up the first alarm sound then you give your body the ability to feel the best that you ever will for that morning.
I hope this has helped give you a few ideas to aid in journey and as always I would love to hear from you so please leave a comment in the section below and I will answer any questions you my have or if you just want to leave some feedback then that is much appreciated as well.
