Quick tricks to maintain high energy in the evening for exercise.
Drop your excuses, make time
If by chance you think that you are too busy to exercise in the evening then try a quick experiment to help you kill your mental blocks or excuses, schedule a set time in the evening to do your exercises even if it is only 10 to 30 minutes a day. At the end of the day after your have exercised and finished your complete daily task then ask yourself if you were any less productive than a normal day with no exercise at all but be honest with yourself, check and just if needed but remember that any exercise is better than no exercise.

Try some quick and easy stretching
Stretching any time of day especially in the evening reminds you to breathe deep which helps the blood flow and the brain function away from the lazy side of life. Stretching also releases tension in tight muscles helping free up any pent-up energy that may be lock in.

Stay hydrated
It is proven that if you are dehydrated then your body does not respond well and reacts by decreasing energy. Even being slightly dehydrated has been known to make people feel mentally exhausted resulting in not have physical energy or the want to do anything much else exercise. Do a test to see if you are dehydrated, the next time that you are feeling foggy or evening slightly light headed, maybe tired. Try drinking a full glass of water of and see if that helps your mental drive.
I sometimes mix up an alpha brain instant mix with water or an acai water but this is what works for me, its best to find what works for you.

Track your progress
Keep a training log of your activity that you do to aid you in learning what is helping and what is not, include your goals in the training log to help you remind yourself why you started in the first place. It is easier to stay motivated if when you feel like giving up and can easily remind yourself of why you started exercising in the first place, when you feel the urge to stop or give up just take out your training log and look at where you are compared to your goal and how far you have come or how far you will go.

Be flexible but firm
Be willing to adjust your evening workout slightly to not interfere with any other activities that you need to do, exercising is better if you exercise with a clear head so you can focus on your movements. Just make sure that you know that it ok to move the workout time around but not to avoid the workout all together, it is easier to keep the momentum going than it is to re-start after skipping workouts. The more that you skip or don’t follow through with your exercise the more risk you take of only discouraging youself.
Crank up some music or listen to anything that motivates you.
Even after a rough day you can always turn on some music to clear your mind and motivate you to follow through with your evening exercises. I have several motivation YouTube channels that I just let auto play to keep my mind focused when I am feeling down or dragging. You would be surprised at how listening to music or something motivational will help you get into the right state of mind to achieve any of your goals. After a while it will become a habit and actually addictive, positive and motivated with every day that passes, you will find yourself looking forward to your evening exercise time.
Call a friend to workout with you
Two people working out is always better because if one person is not feeling like pushing through the movements then the other person can give them that extra little push from time to time to stay on track. Plus you can help each other with different exercises that may be risky if tried by yourself, never attempt to do an exercise that is questionable by yourself. Exercise is meant to help you and not hurt you, always remember that, smarter and safer is always the best way to maintain a good healthy progress.

Dear Shane,
It is so valuable to have a partner when you work out, My ex husband and I always went to the gym together. He did weight lifting and and muscle training, and I joined the aerobics sessions. It was a perfect fit for us. We did it for several years, until we moved away from our apartment. Now 20 years later, I miss our time together, we are still friends. Thanks for the content.

I am glad that you got to read and liked the post, sorry to hear that you about your divorce. You are very correct in saying that having a partner to work out with is always easier and is a lot safer, this is why I recommend not doing any uncontrolled movement exercises with out a partner.
Controlled movement is the most important exercises that you can do to help build a solid healthy foundation.
Thanks,
Shane
Hi Shane
I loved this post. It is so easy to make excuses to not work out any time let alone in the evening. Years ago when I was a lot younger and working as a chef, we would finish around 11pm and I would put on my roller blades and headphones and roller blade home. It gave me time to unwind but also gave me a work out I needed. So like you say you can fit in exercises if properly motivated.
Good luck
Kevin
I’m glad you liked the post and you are 100% right about staying motivated is a key way to stay healthy and help you workout or push through and unlock your true potential.
Thanks,
Ohh man this is great for those people who get tired after a day’s work. It sucks to have to come home, and then maybe go right back out to workout. I remember I had this boxing coaching job that started RIGHT after I got off work. I literally had no energy or time to even come home and drop a deuce. It really sucked. Haha luckily I missed one day and they decided that the demands were too high and I could leave.
Wil,
Good to hear from you and glad you liked the article, I usually work about 60 to 70 hours a week so having energy or the lack thereof is something I know about. I need all the motivation that I can get so tricks like this really do help when you are trying to stay healthy.
Thanks,
Shane
